SIBO is a serious condition caused by bacterial growth int the small intestine.

“This can increase the fermentation of sugar in the carbohydrates you eat, and bloating often occurs from this excess gas production. As a result, people with SIBO often can’t tolerate carbohydrates, including starches, sweets, and sugars,” Mindbodygreen said.

SIFO, on the other hand, is caused by the presence of fungi or yeast. Candida, a common yeast growing to your small intestine, that ward off symbiotic bacteria. As a result, you will experience gas and digestive problems.
